Flying into Malaga or Gibraltar, which is slightly closer, you’ll be surprised as to how easy Estepona is, in order to organize that romantic getaway break for two.
Take the strain out of driving and maybe pre-book an exclusive private hire to whisk you & your partner along to the coastline destination, nestled in between Marbella and Sotogrande, the home of international elite polo players, which you’ll find playing at Santa Maria in August.
A holiday in Estepona will not disappoint you.

She’s filled with refined dining and classical plazas throughout the old town with cobbled areas here and there, which will capture your memories in brief shimmers of sunbeams that beat down off the terracotta pan tiles. Nightlife isn’t filled with hip hop, like some other coastal destinations but Estepona’s rhythm is different; more relaxed, more chilled and more of what you need to focus on- your health, wellness, rest and those all-important romantic reasons!
Having landed at Malaga or Gibraltar, Estepona, easily accessed by road, is situated somewhat in the middle of those airports on the Costa del Sol, located in the province of Málaga and nestled on the Mediterranean. Enabling you to enjoy strolling, Estepona is steadily extending its promenade to Marbella and the Puerto Deportivo is the focal point of the town’s nightlife, especially at weekends and is also excellent for water sports and backed by the beautiful Sierra Bermeja mountains, reaching 1,449m at its peak if you fancy something else physical.

Want to hit the beach running? Then head off before breakfast to Playa de La Rada, a spotless blue flag beach, complete with lifeguards, with 3km of coastline all of its own which runs from the marina past the Estepona Old Town to the beginning of the boardwalk. The slightly smaller Playa del Cristo, which is five minutes west of Estepona Marina, is a small, sheltered, more intimate cove with lifeguards in season and also some “chiringuitos” or beach front bar/restaurants – great places to just wind down over a Mojito with the sound of the Mediterranean gently nuzzling in your ear as her waves lap softly over the shoreline.

Check out the boat trips, especially the sunset variety where you may find dolphins and whales curious to know what sounds of romance are heading their way. There’s literally nothing more romantic than the gentle breeze of the ocean with the smooth rocking of the yacht, coupled with feeling the earth literally in motion. Trailing your fingers through the silky soft waters with one hand and champagne in the other – it’s simply magical.
There is also a sports marina and the location enjoys an incredible microclimate which is part of its magical charm, enabling most people to enjoy a relaxing comfortable ambience throughout the 24/7 timescale of their stay. The seafront is decorated with fine cuisine, all kinds of bars with all the necessary services and amenities for a comfortable day by the sea, if you want to grab a sunbed and top up the tan. For something different there’s also a nudist beach for those wishing to embrace every part of their holiday.
